At Women and Social Protection Tanzania (WSP), we are a dynamic non-profit organization committed to advancing gender equality, social protection, and women’s economic empowerment across Tanzania.
Founded in 2016 and officially registered as an
NGO in 2019, WSP combines research, advocacy, and direct interventions to improve the lives of vulnerable and marginalized
women and girls.
We believe that creating sustainable solutions starts with evidence-based action, strong community engagement, and a relentless focus on empowering women to participate fully and effectively in all areas of society – economically, socially, and politically.
To generate and use evidence on interventions that prioritise inclusive and sustainable solutions for vulnerable and poor women and girls
Women’s full and effective participation and decision-making in social economic and political spheres.
At Women and Social Protection Tanzania (WSP), our values are the foundation of who we are and how we work. They guide our decisions, shape our culture, and define our commitment to the communities we serve. Rooted in social justice and inclusivity, these values reflect our belief in a world where dignity, equity, and opportunity are available to all. Each value is a promise—to our partners, to the people we serve, and to ourselves—to act with purpose, integrity, and compassion in everything we do.
We take full responsibility for our actions and results, ensuring transparency and responsiveness to the communities and partners we serve. We actively monitor our impact and remain open to feedback, always striving to improve and uphold the trust placed in us.
We are guided by honesty, fairness, and strong moral principles. Whether engaging with partners, donors, or beneficiaries, we uphold the highest ethical standards to ensure that our work is always principled, respectful, and trustworthy.
We believe sustainable change is only possible through collaboration. We work hand-in-hand with local communities, government institutions, civil society, and development partners to co-create solutions that are inclusive, relevant, and lasting.
We are committed to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. We actively promote women’s participation, leadership, and access to opportunities, recognizing that inclusive development cannot happen without the full involvement of women.
We prioritize the needs of low-income and marginalized communities in all our work. Our programs are designed to reduce inequality, address systemic barriers, and ensure that the poorest and most vulnerable are not left behind.
At our core, we are a service-oriented organization. We exist to serve communities—listening first, acting with compassion, and focusing on real, long-term impact. Our mission is to uplift lives and support people to reach their full potential.
We carry out our work by actively engaging and empowering families, men and boys, and entire communities to take part in the change process. This inclusive approach helps shift harmful cultural norms and promotes positive behavior change supporting women and girls to thrive economically, socially, and politically.
