CEO & Founder
Dr. Flora Myamba is a renowned expert in social protection and gender in Tanzania, and the visionary founder of Women and Social Protection Tanzania. With over 15 years of international and national experience, she leads the organization’s strategic direction, research agenda, and policy engagement efforts.
Flora has consulted for global institutions including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Center for Global Development, UNICEF, FAO, UNDP, World Bank, ILO, Oxford Policy Management, EU-OECD, and the Government of Tanzania, among others. Her work has centered on advancing women’s economic empowerment, promoting gender-responsive social protection systems, and enabling digital financial inclusion.
Notably, Dr. Myamba led impact evaluations of Tanzania’s Productive Social Safety Net (PSSN) program and was instrumental in designing its Gender Strategy. She has represented Tanzania at high-level platforms such as the Global Expert Group Meeting for CSW63 in New York and has provided technical support to the African Union and various ministries.
Holding a Ph.D. in Sociology from Western Michigan University (2009), Dr. Myamba has published widely in reputable journals such as Oxford Development Studies, Cambridge University Press, Global Social Policy, and African Development Review.
Her leadership is grounded in a deep commitment to equity, evidence-based solutions, and elevating the voices of women and girls in national and global policy spaces.
